Enjoy the good life in the Shenandoah Valley

Winchester, Virginia is an authentic community surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Those who appreciate nature will love our city’s proximity to Shenandoah National Park, the park’s famed Skyline Drive, and its thousands of acres of preserved wilderness land. Our city and the surrounding area are home to many other parks with a roster of outdoor activities from hiking, to fishing and boating, to horseback riding and more. Avid golfers will enjoy the challenges offered by Rock Harbor Golf Course, with a design that celebrates our region’s varied topography.

Our city’s downtown area is a bustling retail center that’s a favorite among shoppers and festival-goers. Among structures and sites dating back to Colonial days, you’ll find unique shops and dining establishments. The Loudoun Street Pedestrian Mall has become a prime destination, with its mix of upscale boutiques, specialty shops, and locally owned restaurants and breweries that spotlight area performers and arts activities. On Saturdays from May through November, the downtown area hosts the Old Town Farmers Market, featuring in-season produce and artisan food items from a 60-mile radius.

A particularly popular destination is our city’s Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, one of just 29 in the U.S. This state-of-the-art movie theater includes a full restaurant and bar, providing a unique setting in which to enjoy the latest releases. That’s just one example of our region’s many arts offerings, which include many local theaters and arts galleries, along with Shenandoah University’s magnificent Conservatory, hosting more than 300 arts events annually.
